{When the 'Gear clicks on, a vaguely familiar face to some comes slowly into view - and she does look alarmingly young for the usual age range of people pulled here, perhaps only six or seven years old.}

{And then she reaches out to the 'Gear and turns it off. She can be found wandering around Cherrygrove's Pokemon Center, occasionally checking the 'Gear or peering out a window. Talk to her, yes/no/why?}

[What even. Even if she hadn't introduced herself already, he'd have a pretty good idea of who this was. He did see her younger version once, during that Shedinja nightmare so long ago, but she just looks similar anyway.]

[Envy's really not sure whether to be happy that Nanao's here at all or upset that she's sure not going to know who he is, but one thing is sure. He is very, very confused.]

Sorry, but you're probably not going home or getting your powers back anytime soon.

[He's just defaulting to 'what to say to new people' while he processes this. And stares.]

...you're joking, right. {She's never been without them. Never. Even if they weren't always particularly helpful, they've always been there - the past four days have been like wandering around missing a hand, and what do you mean she's not going to get them back.}

[He really does wish he was joking, although as far as he's concerned it wouldn't be a very funny joke to begin with, even for him.]

[He still doesn't quite know what to say. He gets the feeling that just going ahead with 'yeah so you were here before but older and also basically my sister' wouldn't turn out super well. But he has to say something sooner or later. This isn't something he can dodge around forever like he usually likes to do.]

No, there's no way to get home on our own, as far as anyone can tell.

Sometimes this place sends people back, but we don't know why. [There's an odd sort of sad expression on his face when he says this, but then it's very quickly hidden again.]

But whatever you were doing when you came here, no time will have passed when you do get back. Trust me on that one.

{She caught that look, and she narrows her eyes.}

You lost someone, didn't you. {This is something else Envy will have to learn; the Nanao of a hundred years ago is blunt as fuck. And sharp as a tack.} Someone who looked like me.

[Yeah, he'll be learning that pretty quick. For the moment, he's caught off guard enough that she might be able to tell that he's debating what to actually tell her. He doesn't know if she'd freak out or not.]

[There's a pause, and he sighs and runs a hand through his hair, not looking directly at the camera. This situation is so weird. He finally mutters.]

She was you. Except older.

...wh-

{She just stares, eyes wide and terrified. Her? But older? That couldn't be right...}

You're lying.

[And then Envy makes a fantastic 'OH NO don't freak out' expression.]

If I was going to lie, I'd come up with something more believable!

[Wait no, no yelling that's a bad idea. He lowers his voice, trying to speak more calmly and reassuringly.]

This...it happens sometimes. People show up from different times, and you were here before as an adult.

{She looks at him, utterly disbelieving.}

But how is that possible?

[Honestly Envy can't really blame her.]

I have no idea, how is anything here possible? Appearing in some new world, powers gone...none of that should be able to happen. And neither should crazy backwards time travel, but all that has happened.

I can't make you believe me, but I'm telling the truth. [And he puts all the conviction he can muster into that. He pauses before letting out a small laugh. It's not genuine, and there's a small bit of that sadness from before in it, but it's passable.]

But I guess it doesn't help when some weird guy says he knows you and hasn't even told you his name. I'm Envy.
